Auto Insurance When it comes to purchasing insurance, there's not a single individual who doesn't want to know how to spend less money. Of course, you also want to ensure that you are getting the right amount of coverage. The good news is, you don't have to sacrifice one for the other! Many car owners out there are paying too much for insurance, when they could actually be saving hundreds of dollars a year.

A recent InsuranceQuotes.com survey actually revealed that 84% of those car owners polled don't ask for basic auto insurance discounts! This is not exclusive to the "big auto insurance companies," discounts can be found with local independent agencies as well.

Let's discuss premiums; is your car a brand new, luxury vehicle? Naturally, this will carry the highest premium. However, if your car is a 20 year old vehicle with more miles on it than you can just about fathom, chances are you don't need as much collision or comprehensive coverage that a newer vehicle would require, as the replacement cost may not be worth it. Therefore, if you need less insurance, you'l be paying less of a premium. Of course, you should be sure to discuss details with your trusted insurance agent.

Are you an older driver with no accidents on your record? Ask about "safe driver" discounts! You'll typically pay more for a policy for a teenager or early 20's driver on your policy, but you may even be able to save if those teens are good students. The standard assumption is that educational responsibility usually equates to driving responsibility; or at least good students may typically spend less time on the roads as they are spending more time on the books. This is not a blanket statement, but something worth asking your insurance agent about.

Two more factors that could lower your premium are your occupation and how much you drive. That's right; you might be able to save if you are a teacher, nurse, or an accountant and only drive 5,000 miles annually versus a person that drives 15,000 miles a year and works in a different occupation.

The lesson to be learned here is simply; you won't know unless you ask. Please contact Fleming & Riles Insurance at (800) 833-4379 today to learn more about our auto insurance policies and other personal lines and business lines products we offer.
